Maintaining the Original Vision

Have you ever been worried that your finished project won’t look quite like what you imagined?

One of the biggest concerns when commissioning a construction project is the final product being noticeably different from what you envisioned. Whether it revolves more around aesthetics like colour or cladding profile changes, or structural differences due to revised building consents, having a finished product that is far removed from your initial vision can be quite disappointing.

VIKON’s work on this beautiful set of Sunnynook homes was dedicated to bringing the on-paper dream to life. Thanks to our in-house designers and estimators, the planning and consent process was flawless; an excellent demonstration of our ability in executing our clients’ vision exactly as they intended.

As part of realising this medium density development, we applied our precise organisational skills to ensure smooth coordination of trades through the main driveway, to all the lots under concurrent construction. With the site being at the end of a cul-de-sac, great care was taken to minimise disruption to the neighbouring homes.

Vital to this build was the overall aesthetic, which had to be kept consistent across the four lots – both inside and out. The interiors featured streaky marble-look bathroom tiles, wavy kitchen splashbacks with a tactile touch, and twisted iron staircase balusters – special aesthetic touches whose absence would be sorely felt.

VIKON’s proactive planning, ordering, and supply management meant that all of these features were kept consistent. The same can be said for the exterior, which touted a special stacked stone veneer from Craftstone. The undulating profiles, shore-washed textures, and natural colours were a central component of the homes’ image, and an idea that was carried from conception all the way to the final product.
