Colourful Classrooms for a Vibrant School

For this richly radiant Mount Wellington school, VIKON played a pivotal role in constructing two brand new classrooms. Notable for its high-profile aesthetics and unabashed use of the colour palette, this project required physical characteristics that could gel with an enriched paint job.

Key to the principal’s requirements was an aesthetic that preserved the school’s identity while also providing a new space that not only supported, but encouraged learning. From burgeoning foundation work, to framing, cladding, and roofing, VIKON handled the bulk of the work.

We collaborated closely with the principal to carefully design the exterior aesthetic. With the final scheme chosen to be a brilliant combination of yellow-green on stone grey, this building conveyed the essence of modernity while injecting playfulness and excitement.

Of note is the application, where the green was painted in blocks, acting as more of an accent - cleverly appearing as though coloured with a highlighter’s fluorescence. This pairs perfectly with the neon blue of the outside bench and deck tarp, making for a fun and dynamic visual.

Inside, VIKON precisely finished the multi-class layout, including the linings and windows. Taking up a deep blue theme, with a combination of soft carpet and hardy vinyl floors, each classroom is dynamic and highly capable.
