A Backyard Nature Walk

Tucked away at the edge of suburban West Auckland, this glowing, nature-adjacent home was designed and built by VIKON. Lovingly situated beside a lush stretch of New Zealand bush, living in this peaceful home is almost akin to a forest retreat.

As masters of delivering the right home in the right place, our designers sought to take full advantage of the splendidly awe-inspiring scenery situated right beside the home grounds. First and foremost, we couldn’t let this location go to waste: we incorporated a full outdoor viewing deck that stretched across the entire width of the backyard, granting complete, sweeping views of the scenic flora beneath.

Looking the opposite direction, however, you’d be met with ordinary idyllic suburban views, which allows this home to enjoy all the benefits of both modern suburban living as well as the raw experience of treading alongside a classic New Zealand bush walk. With an open area made for living & dining, the owners and guests alike can enjoy outdoor living from the comfort of an owned home.

The front façade features its own set of curiosities too, with a unique cut-out appearance thanks to the multiple depths of the exterior. Creating a layered, intricate look, the home uses Hermpac’s Vertiline shiplap weatherboard, combined with bevel-back weatherboard to create a distinct two-tone appearance with striking perpendicular lines. The cutaway appearance gives the impression of a double-layered exterior.

With five bedrooms, an open plan ground floor, and sweeping natural views, this Glen Eden home fuses the best of both worlds: granting all the wonder of a nature trail within a modern, capable, and aesthetically dynamic package.
